You Should have been to the PowerCord2 Jam
What’s a PowerCord?
A musical chord formed by a root note, its
fifth, and its octave. Among the easiest types of chords to play on the guitar,
due to an easily shiftable fingering position, and the power chord's ability to
"fit" over both major and minor melodies. Vital to heavy metal and
punk music. Power chords are a key element of many styles of rock and heavy
metal music.
What is PowerCord2 Jam?
We hear it all the time.
"I'm looking for my first job in the
industry, but employers all seem to want experience and I don't have any. What
do I do?"
We've got one word for you - volunteer. Volunteering is the best way to get the
experience you need to score a great job. These opportunities are both fun and
will show potential employers that you're responsible.
Want some evidence? Well, over half of the
graduate recruiters that took part in a recent research study by Highfliers
said that, "graduates who have had no previous work experience at all are
unlikely to be successful during the selection process and have little or no
chance of receiving a job offer."
Doing work experience shows passion and
interest. Evidence that you have done work experience shows the employer that
you are motivated to get into a chosen career and that you’ve done your
homework.
On the Tuesday of week 11 of the Winter Quarter from 2 pm to 4 pm, The Art Institute of Las Vegas had the second in a series of PowerCord Concerts. PowerCord2 Jam in the Park(ing lot) was a FREE student concert with the focus on presenting the concert and learning those skills - not actually creating something for the audience.
Student volunteers set up, presented,
recorded and cleaned up a professionally managed opportunity that could eventually
be used on resume and job interview opportunities.
