The road to success is paved with mistakes well handled.
In Danny Meyer’s book Setting the Table, he tells of a story meeting the remarkable head of Neiman and Marcus. Stanly Markus. Who better to know what is "the best" than the man who made Neiman Marcus synonymous with excellence for more than fifty years? Danny Meyer had just opened a new restaurant and it was not going as well as he had expected. He said, “This might be the worst mistake I’ve ever made.” Stanly Marcus responded, “So you made a mistake. You need to understand something important. And listen to me carefully: The road to success is paved with mistakes well handled.”

One+One =Four
If you have an apple and I have an apple, and we exchange these apples then you and I will still each have one apple. But if you have an idea and I have an idea, and we exchange these ideas, then each of us will have two ideas.

Political satire on the McCain/Palin ticket
The top student video in Digital Marketing was made by Ricci Hernandez. I’ll let you decide if it is the best. Indeed, it did get the most hits by class time. Today at 8:30 it had 1,239 hits.

Indecent Completion: playing hardball with the big boys
Its midterm and the quarter is going fast. Some of the student videos are really well done. Many of the student videos are doing quite well, but they did not get the hits I was expecting. I guess that the election just reached a saturation point where it was difficult for a student video to break though the commercially made and new worthy stuff that has flooded the internet. We had much better luck with our parodies of the super bowl style commercials in January because people seek those out. With a constant flood of political media, funny student videos just seemed to be lot harder to promote. I guess it is also difficult to compete with Comedy Central (http://www.comedycentral.com/), Bill Maher (http://www.billmaher.com/) and the late night pundits (http://www.nbc.com/Saturday_Night_Live/), too.
